Purple “Hotchi” Sea urchin

$9.50

The purple “Hotchi” sea urchins are native to CA coastal waters, but they are being a nuisance and out competing with the Red Sea urchin and other sea life for food and space. They are eating kelp which is needed for food and shelter for other marine life and is a fantastic for carbon sequestration. Harry and Steph collaborate with The Cultured Abalone where we dive to get these Hotchi’s and bring them to the abalone farm to feed them three kinds of kelp directly harvested from the wild and fattened up for market. They are smaller than the Red Sea urchin, but they are creamier and sweeter!
